Dear Member
The Surveyors Board of Queensland (SBQ) desires to appoint a “qualified surveyor with a mining endorsement” to act as an advisor to the Board on mining surveying matters. The role is to offer guidance and assistance to the Board. The successful appointee would be engaged until April 2013.
The advisor would not be a member of the Board but would attend meeting and participate in debate only. The advisor would be paid at the same rate as a Board member and may be required to attend up to eight times per year at six to eight week intervals.
The SBQ wrote to us on 15 December 2011 requesting the names of two persons who would be interested in being considered for appointment to the position. We have been advised that the candidates would require both underground and open-cut experience with a Mining A endorsement.
If you are interested, I request that you advise the Institution by return email. The Board requires a CV from interested persons and may interview the candidate as part of the Board’s selection process. The Board is also asking AIMS and SSSI Engineering and Mining Surveying Commission to provide the names of two persons for the Advisor’s role.
If you are interested in this role, we are required to inform you that a successful applicant is not a representative of this Institution but merely an individual practitioner who is assisting the Board in this matter.
I look forward to receiving your expressions of interest and CV as quickly as possible. I apologise for the lack of notice for this request but Christmas close-down has prevented earlier notification to the membership.
Regards
Jeff Dowling
